WINTER IN BIG SKY

As snow accumulates, recreation in Montana shifts into high gear, and Big Sky finds itself in the center of all the activity. With the recent collaboration of Big Sky and Moonlight Basin, the nation’s largest skiing and snowboarding complex was created. Offering 5,512 acres of skiable terrain, 4,350 vertical feet, and boasting over 400 inches of snowfall annually, Big Sky has certainly emerged as the premier resort destination in the U.S. With all of that terrain open for your pleasure, your legs are bound to get tired, and there are many other activities to enjoy while you let your body recuperate.

Book a sleigh ride at one of the nearby dude ranches, or spend a day on a snowcoach tour in the mountains. Some of the best snowmobiling in the world is in West Yellowstone just 55 miles away. Dogsled tours are also a rare adventure that can be booked with Spirit of the North. Other activities include snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Even horseback riding and fly fishing can be enjoyed on a balmy late-season day.

If the kids still aren’t tired after all of that, take them to the new tubing park or the ice skating rink. There’s something for everyone at the winter wonderland that is Big Sky, Montana.
